Day 3 – 31 Day Blog Challenge
Today, I’m supposed to write about my favorite quote. As I am a quote fanatic, it is really difficult for me to pick only one. Therefore, I will list three of my favorite quotes below!
“It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.” – E.E. Cummings
This has been my favorite quote since I was a teenager because at the time, I knew how difficult it was to mold yourself into someone you are not to fit society’s standards. And I don’t think I truly became my own person until this past year when I freed myself from others’ opinions and rules and started living my life for myself. I know how hard it can be, but it is so important. I actually have a necklace that has this exact quote on it. It’ll always be one of my favorites.
“When two souls fall in love, there is nothing else but the yearning to be close to the other. The presence that is felt through a hand held, a voice heard, or a smile seen. Souls do not have calendars or clocks, nor do they understand the notion of time or distance. They only know it feels right to be with one another.” -Lang Leav
I read this quote shortly after getting together with my boyfriend and hit me smack dab in the heart and soul. Because there was a connection felt unlike anything I had ever felt before upon meeting him and I couldn’t understand it or put the feeling into words. This quote here says exactly what I could not. And for all the people who told me you couldn’t really get to know someone through long distance, I just wanted to throw this quote at them to make them understand.
“Words are, in my not-so-humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic.” – J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
As someone who has loved words and the English language since forever, I’m completely in love with this quote. Words are so powerful and if you’re talented enough, you can use them to make people feel happy, or sad, or mad, etc. This is such a beautiful sentence, and was written by such a beautiful person.
Funny now that I’ve written all of this out that it seems I have chosen a quote that represents my past, E.E Cummings, a quote that represents my present, J.K. Rowling, and a quote that represents my future, Lang Leav. I promise I didn’t even plan that.
Do any of you have any quotes that you live by or will always remember by heart? Comment below! I want to hear them.
