A Sarastro Review

My boyfriend had told me about this place called Sarastro that serves Turkish food and have artists come around playing music or singing by your table. Fast forward a couple months, and I’m planning my mom and dad’s trip here to London trying to think of another restaurant to take them to before we go to the theatre. D suggests Sarastro to me. I looked it up on OpenTable and booked it because I am a firm believer in trying new things. And I’m really really glad I did.

The outside of the building looks like someone’s garden. And somehow, the inside is even better. It really does look like an opera house.

Our reservation was at 5pm on a Thursday so there weren’t many people inside at the time, so we had the entire place to ourselves which was nice so that we could take a lot of pictures.

This is the table we got to sit at.

When we finally sat down, almost all of us (besides my mom) ordered from the set menu. You could choose a starter, a main, and/or a dessert for just around £20, or something pretty close to that. As I’m not a huge fan of dessert, I just ordered a starter and a main.

The starter I chose was the Turkish bulgar wheat salad, known as Kisir.

And the main was the chicken with broccoli and pesto potatoes.

Everything was superb.

D and I even shared a really nice bottle of Prosecco that wasn’t too expensive, which is shocking for London.

Besides the fact that the decor and tables and everything in there was just absolutely insanely well done, when you go to the toilets, there is a special kind of art all over the walls.

To put it simply, it’s basically artistic pornography.

The pictures are VERY VERY VERY detailed. And I would like to show you a picture but I do feel like that may be a teensy bit inappropriate. I actually just checked if I could find a tame one and I could not…

So…. if you come to London, you have to try this place out.. and you have to make sure you visit the toilets.

I personally can’t wait to go back there. The staff were incredibly nice and helpful, the prices were VERY reasonable for a restaurant in London, the decor was amazing, and the food was so tasty.

Unfortunately, we were leaving just as the singers were coming to set up. The next time we go back, we will most definitely book a later time so we can enjoy the music as well.

Much Love
