For those of you who did the 12 Week BBG Challenge with Kayla Itsine’s starting on January 15th, you should have completed it two weeks ago. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to. Not only did I have to start late because of a work trip, but I also had to pause for a few weeks due to a few circumstances. One, my parents came to visit and I decided to enjoy my time with them instead of focusing on my vigorous training and healthy eating. And then I fell ill. And I will tell you all about that in a blog post soon, but that will not be for today.
When I initially started the 12 Week BBG Challenge, I wanted to use it as a way to get myself back in shape, form healthy habits, and get back to my love of working out. If you have been following my blog, you will know these weekly posts to be my “Wellness Journey.” I made an effort every week to meal prep to my advantage and make healthy foods for myself and D for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I also tried a lot of new recipes for sweet treats made with natural ingredients for those days I wanted a cake but not all the fat and sugar.
I can definitely tell you I have come a very long way. And I could not be more proud of myself.
I have noticed that in the last few weeks, I am seeing vegan and plant based meals on Instagram and I am actually beginning to crave them. I bought a bunch of powders with Tropeaka to make healthy smoothies and shakes and have been looking up a lot of different kinds of salad recipes. Guys, this is big news.
This means that my appetite is changing and my body is beginning to crave healthy natural foods which is exactly what I wanted to accomplish when I began this wellness journey.
On a fitness level, I could feel my body getting stronger as the weeks went on. But I did noticed that I wasn’t adding enough cardio into my life so I tried to start walking more. And when my parents were here, I walked between 3 and 6 miles a day.
I am not in “perfect” shape by any means. I still have a long way to go when it comes to my fitness journey. I still want to lose more fat and tone my muscles, but the difference is that I know this is attainable now.
I am in a good position to keep up with my workouts and fitness on a weekly or daily basis, keep up the healthy eating habits, and continue onwards.
However, I have decided to give BBG a bit of a rest. As much as I liked it at the beginning, I want to switch things up and try something else. It got a bit samey to me, if you know what I mean.
I bought the Sweat it to Shred It ebook by Sarah’s Day and I’m going to try that program next. She is about to launch her second ebook in May so when I complete the first one, I can immediately get the second one and continue on if I am still enjoying it. All of her workouts can be done at home, and they are created with the same idea I have which is not to get bored of doing the same thing every week.
I did scroll through her ebook and I’ll be honest, I’m a bit nervous to start this program. She is an absolute beast when it comes to her fitness level so I know I will be exerting a lot of energy during her workouts.
I’ve decided not to continue on with my Wellness Journey posts on a weekly basis. However, I would like to continue posting about wellness related topics. This means I want to continue sharing good healthy recipes I find or create, I will give updates on my fitness routine and how it is working for me, and as I learn new things about myself and my health on the way, I will be sure to create good blog posts about that to share with you.
This is not the end of my Wellness Journey by any means, it’s just the end of my weekly wellness posts. However, I am constantly putting content on my Instagram stories and on individual posts in regards to my Wellness, so if you’re still interested in reading and learning, please follow me on Instagram.
I have learned a lot about my body, my health, and my endurance during my weekly Wellness posts, and I do want to continue the learning and growing as I am feeling the best I have ever felt about myself. It’s been a crazy three months for me and I am immensely proud of myself for getting to where I am now.
Now that the BBG Challenge is over for me, I’m on to another one 🙂
