Finding Mexican Street Food in London at Wahaca

In the States, Mexican is very easily accessible. You’ll see restaurants on every corner. And usually it’s really cheap. I do miss it terribly. Like the nights I’d go out drinking and would crave some fast food, I generally always wanted Taco Bell. Like forget McDonald’s, I wanted a chalupa and a crunchwrap supreme. YAAAAS.

Obviously with the UK being so far away from Mexico, you don’t get a lot of Mexican cuisine so I find myself craving it even more. So I had to do some research for good Mexican food in London. My research brought me to Wahaca.

We went there for the first time when my parents were over after we did the ArcelorMittal Orbit slide in Stratford. It was really really good. We all enjoyed it immensely.

A big portion of their menu is street food which is my shit. When I’m hungry, I want to eat like 5 different things. When you get tiny street food portions, you can order a few different items for yourself, or share with someone else. It’s the best.

I finally got there a second time over the weekend with a friend of mine for dinner. And as the food was amazing again, I felt like I needed to share this with you guys.

I ordered the Chicken Club Quesadilla which I also got the first time and knew it would be a hit again.

I then also ordered the Buttermilk Chicken Tacos because ugh they sounded amazing. And they were. They had a sauce and a spicy salsa in them that was just soooo tasty. My mouth is actually watering as I’m typing this. It’s also lunch time and I’m really hungry.

And then there were Smoked Salmon Tostada’s which is a new item on the menu and as both my friend and I really wanted to try them, we decided to split it.

And yes it was as good as the picture shows.

After all this, I didn’t feel like I had eaten too much or too little. It was the exact right amount of food for dinner and filled me up for the rest of the night. And it was only about £15 worth of food for all that which is a really great price for a restaurant in London.

And the part that I actually liked the most is the fact that you can download the Wahaca Quickpay app, type in your table number, and pay the bill. Or you can choose the items that were yours and pay for those. It’s a very convenient way of doing things, especially if you’re out with a big group of people. Having access to the bill makes things 1000x easier.

If you’re ever craving some good Mexican food in London, definitely try one of the Wahaca locations. They are everywhere, so you will likely be near one of the locations no matter where you are.

Much Love
