My October Favourites

It’s that time of the month, folks. And no, I am not talking about Aunt Flo. Something much more interesting – my monthly favourites.

I quite enjoy writing these posts as I get to relive the highlight reel of my month. And that’s just fun, isn’t it?

October was an amazing month. And it’s easily become one of my favourite months of the year. Autumn leaves, Pumpkin Everything, the month I got engaged….

Ok I’m not going to give it all away so read below to see what I have been loving this October.

My Dad Wrote a Porno Podcast

I could have easily put this in my September Favourites. But I didn’t and so here it is.

If you haven’t heard of this podcast, just go listen to the first episode now and all will be revealed. And you won’t stop laughing.

A retired man decided to write an erotic novel. And it isn’t much of a novel. It isn’t much of anything. It’s pretty crap, actually. And he gave it to his son. And his son read the first chapter and was astounded. So he did what most people would do and got his friends together and made it into a podcast. Every week, his son reads aloud a new chapter.

They’re on Season 4 now because his dad has written FOUR of these books now.

It’s disgusting and hilarious and brilliant. Just go listen to the first one. It can brighten literally any day.

The New Strike Novel

You need to get on board with this book series train because they are worth every cent, or pence. Written by none other, JK Rowling, who goes by the pen name of Robert Galbraith. It is the 4th one in the series and I finished it in a week because I could not stop reading.

It’s about a London detective named Cormoran Strike who solves crimes. I mean, it’s JK Rowling so you know it has to be amazing.

If you haven’t read the first few books, take a look here and download them or buy them the old school way. However you read it, you will not regret it.

Our Holiday to Turkey

I know I’ve already written a detailed post on our holiday, but it has to be included in this list as well. It’s how we started off the month, it’s where we got engaged, and it cleansed our soul of all the stress we had been piling up for a long time.

It was everything we needed. We just genuinely had a great time together relaxing by the pool and working on our tans.

We definitely have to make sure we save enough money in the future to make going on a holiday a yearly thing, especially next year in the midst of all the wedding planning. I know I will need a break from it all eventually.

It’s really hard to make sure we save vacation days and set aside money for a holiday as I feel like I’m supposed to use that time and money to go back to the States to see family and friends. But realistically, D and I need time with each other away from other people and responsibilities every once in awhile. Not only is it important for our relationship, but just also us individually.

Being Engaged

It’s barely been 3 weeks but I’m still on a high. I can’t stop looking down at the ring and admiring it on my finger. I can’t stop thinking about the wedding and about the fact that we’re going to be married in only two years.

I want to write a detailed post about the engagement and how everything has unraveled since then for next week. So look out for that post coming soon.

In the meantime, just look at the ring with me 🙂

My Engagement Ring

Like I said above, I can’t stop looking at it. It’s everything I’ve ever wanted. And it sparkles in even the smallest amount of light.

It’s just so beautiful.

P.S. sorry for the close up of my wrinkly hand… BUT this was taken with my iPhone, look how much better the camera has gotten! I’m quite impressed. And also a bit sad that my hand is this wrinkly already. I’m still in my 20s, what the heck.

Wedding Planning

You guys know I love planning and organising. So it would only make sense that I would thoroughly enjoy planning my wedding.

It seems the general consensus is that women turn into bridezillas and get all stressed and horrible and are miserable the entire time. And I read some advice that that is reason enough not to prolong an engagement because you want to be miserable for the least amount of time as possible. :O

This is not me at all. I personally love the fact that we have two years. This ensures we have enough time to save up for both the wedding and the honeymoon of our dreams. We have enough time to book the venue of our choice with the date of our choice as well as all the other vendors out there. We won’t feel rushed to make decisions. And I will definitely stay ahead of the game on everything.

I’m personally loving it right now. I may change my mind on that sometime in the future, but I’m going to enjoy it as much as I can while I have the time to do so.

A Carefree and Laid Back Mentality

The moment we walked into our hotel room on holiday, I relaxed immensely. And since we got engaged, I’ve been so carefree and laid back. I almost don’t recognise myself.

Before holiday, my main stress was eating healthy. Now, as our wedding is not until October 2020, I’ve got a lot of time. And right now, I want to feel free to go grab food after work with my fiance, or go out for drinks with a friend. And with my birthday, Thanksgiving, and Christmas coming up, I am going to enjoy the hell out of all those as well.

I know that this is such a special time in our lives and I don’t want to spend it stressing about food or worrying about little things too much. Instead, I just want us to enjoy life together. If there’s one thing I learned from holiday, it’s that I need to be more carefree because I truly enjoyed it then. And so that’s what I’m trying to do now.

Roll On Essential Oils

No picture because the lighting was not good when I got home from work. Yes, I am blaming it on the sun. It’s the sun’s fault.

I’ve been interested in including essential oils into my life more recently. I bought a kit from Tisserand that includes three roll on essential oils. One for de-stressing, one for energising, and one for sleeping.

I’ve only tried the sleeping one so far and I have gotten such a restful night’s sleep since I began using it. I roll it on my wrists, on my neck, and at my temples. And if I continue to get such an amazing night’s sleep from doing this simple trick every night, then I don’t ever want to stop using them!

I’ll keep you all updated on my progress with all of these and if I think you’d enjoy them as well. Make sure to check my Insta stories for updates <3

Keep a look out for the next monthly favourites post that will include a LOT as well as I know November will also be one for the books. It’s my favourite time of year so that equals lots of things to talk about.
